Have you ever looked at a website and thought, “I could do better than that!”?

Well, here’s your chance to prove your web design skills and win thousands of pounds of prizes at the same time!

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The British Computer Society (BCS), the local Jersey International Section of the BCS is organising a website design competition providing you with a great opportunity to showcase you creative skills and try your hand at website design. Whether you’re already a bit of a web expert, or fancy trying this out for the first time, you and your school or youth organisation will have the chance to win thousands of pounds of prizes, whilst learning more about IT and e-business.

What’s it all about?

It’s really quite simple.

As individuals or in teams of up to four people, you must design a functioning website that is of local relevance. It doesn’t matter what the subject is, as long as the theme relates to Jersey in some way.

You will need to keep notes on why you chose to create a particular web site, along with the challenges you faced and the choices you made along with a description of the site and any other useful details, because an important part of the competition is based upon a project report that you need to hand in with the website.

What’s in it for you?

Apart from the chance of winning a trophy and star prize for your school there are some great electronic individual and team based prizes to be won.

And of course, there’s also the experience that you’ll gain, the new skills and information that you will learn not forgetting the fun you’ll have building the sites.
